Not much new.

Regarding my previous design classes taken, I faired just as well as I assumed I would completing the class with high marks, but now I've decided to take it to the next level; University of Florida. While initially I hoped to get in for fall 2011, I was unable to take all of the classes I needed to before registering due to prerequisite issues. So, the next allotted time I can enter would be summer term 2012, which will place me in the accelerated program for first year (in essence, taking first year's studio over 3 months, rather than 9-10 months.)

I plan on moving in with my best girl friend for the summer then getting a place somewhere off campus. This will be a big step for me, not only will I be taking mostly architecture- related classes, but it will be the first time where I am 15+ minutes away from my family. Hooray! No more "Lauren, could you do...?" But I digress.

I'm excited based off the titles of the classes I'll be taking; "History of Interiors (I + II),""Interior Graphics," and many more. While I anticipate many long or all-nighters, I can't wait to see what my creative juices can do when blended up with new concepts, ideas, and understandings. Ok, maybe that was cheesy, but the air of possibility surrounding me is intoxicating.

With a few more math and science classes under my belt, I'll be ready for everything University of Florida has to offer.

Basic Textiles/ F(x) & Psych of Spaces

So far, my classes at FSCJ have faired well, I'm almost finished in textiles, learning much about jacquard fabrics, dobby weaves, and every fabric in between. I can't wait for the time when we actually get to design   spaces. The other class I'm seems easy thusfar, however, it's only the first week. I'm really glad I changed my major because I actually enjoy the things I am learning compared to hating 3/4's of my classes in nutrition.
My life is pretty much in order at this moment, I have a loving boyfriend, my two  great cats, and a brainful of ideas. :)

le not premier.

As of yesterday, my life goals pretty much did a 180* turn. I decided that I once again wanted to become an interior designer, I wanted to express myself not through telling people not to eat cookies and bad foods, but to redesign the spaces where people work, eat, poop, shop, and sleep. While I am far from my goal of a bachelor's at FSU, I know the day will soon be here when I face my toughest day; first year review. Apparently, 40 students (and 40 only) are chosen from a vast population of students wanting to declare a major in ID each semester to move on to the harder level.
What I am doing is attending a community college in pursuit of an A.S. degree in ID, then transferring to FSU. This choice will also raise my whopping 2.6 GPA from all of my science/ health based classes taken at my prior university in order to pass the 3.0 barrier I currently face. What this means to my father; the man who got through undergrad and law school in 7 years, is "you're a slacker." I'm okay with this.  I'm still doing better than most of my generation in regards to family. This choice has heightened my determination, hope, and my outlook on future. Sure, I WILL make less than I would have being in the medical field, but at least I will be happy. :)

Interior design, here I come full throttle!
